Blobbel Game Modes Guide: All 6 Modes Explained

Published March 11, 2026 • 6 min read • Back to Blog

One of the things that makes Blobbel stand out from other drop-and-merge puzzle games is its 6 distinct game modes. Each mode offers a fundamentally different experience, from relaxing zen sessions to competitive weekly tournaments. Here's a complete breakdown of every mode and how to unlock them.

Mode Overview

Mode Unlock Level Time Limit Game Over?
Campaign Available from start No Yes (overflow)
Zen Level 3 No No
Time Attack Level 5 60 seconds Timer only
Endless Level 10 No Yes (overflow)
Puzzle Level 15 No Yes (out of drops)
Weekly Level 20 No Yes (overflow)

Campaign Mode

Campaign is the heart of Blobbel and the mode you'll start with. It features 50 hand-crafted levels, each with a target score you need to reach to advance. Levels get progressively harder with higher score requirements and more challenging starting conditions.

Each level awards up to 3 stars based on your score:

Stars matter because they unlock skins and serve as a measure of your mastery. Replaying levels for 3 stars is one of the most satisfying parts of the game.

Strategy tip: Focus on setting up chain reactions rather than just reaching the target score. Combos are the key to earning 3 stars consistently.

Zen Mode (Unlocks at Level 3)

Zen mode is pure relaxation. There's no game over — your container is wider than normal, and you can drop and merge blobs at your own pace without any pressure. The game tracks your time and score, but there's no fail state.

This mode is perfect for:

Strategy tip: Use Zen mode to practice cascade setups. Since you can't lose, it's the ideal place to experiment with advanced chain reaction techniques.

Time Attack (Unlocks at Level 5)

Time Attack gives you 60 seconds to score as many points as possible. A timer bar at the top counts down relentlessly while you drop and merge at maximum speed. When time runs out, your score is final.

Time Attack tracks your personal best score, making it the most competitive solo mode. The combination of time pressure and merge mechanics creates an intensely focused experience.

Strategy tip: Speed beats precision in Time Attack. Don't wait for the perfect drop — keep blobs flowing and let the physics work in your favor. Your muscle memory from Campaign practice will pay off here.

Endless Mode (Unlocks at Level 10)

Endless is the classic "how long can you survive?" mode. There are no levels and no score targets — you simply play until your container overflows. The score grows indefinitely, making this the mode for chasers of truly massive high scores.

Endless mode is where the strategic depth of Blobbel really shines. Managing your container over a long session requires disciplined play and long-term planning.

Strategy tip: In Endless, container management is more important than scoring. Prioritize merges that reduce your stack height. A low, flat stack lets you survive longer and score higher in the long run.

Puzzle Mode (Unlocks at Level 15)

Puzzle mode is a completely different experience from the other modes. Each puzzle starts with pre-placed blobs in specific positions, and you're given a limited number of drops to reach a target score. There are 20 puzzles, each designed as a unique brain teaser.

Where other modes test reflexes and pattern recognition, Puzzle mode is a pure logic challenge. You need to figure out the exact sequence of drops that will trigger the right chain of merges to hit the target.

Strategy tip: Don't rush. Study the puzzle layout carefully before making your first move. Count the merges needed and plan backward from the goal. Sometimes the solution requires counterintuitive placements.

Weekly Tournament (Unlocks at Level 20)

The Weekly Tournament is Blobbel's competitive mode. Every week, a new deterministic seed generates the same sequence of blobs for all players. This means everyone gets the exact same drops in the exact same order — skill is the only differentiator.

You can attempt the weekly challenge as many times as you want, and your best score for the week is recorded. Tournaments reset every Monday.

Strategy tip: Play through the weekly seed once without pressure to learn the blob sequence. Then on your second and third attempts, you'll know what's coming and can plan your drops accordingly.

How to Unlock All Modes

Modes unlock automatically as you progress through Campaign. When a mode is still locked, you can see it on the title screen along with the level requirement, giving you something to work toward.

The unlock order is carefully designed to introduce complexity gradually:

  1. Zen (Level 3) — Lets you practice without pressure after learning the basics
  2. Time Attack (Level 5) — Adds time pressure once you have the fundamentals
  3. Endless (Level 10) — Opens up the long-form experience when you've proven you can handle the difficulty
  4. Puzzle (Level 15) — Introduces logic-based challenges for experienced players
  5. Weekly (Level 20) — Competitive play for dedicated players
